Amplifying African leadership in nuclear security and disarmament
AFCONE announced the appointment of Mr. Collins Omondi as the Acting Acting Executive Secretary. The transition follows ending of term of H.E. Ahmed Bezeid Deida as the Acting Executive Secretary on 27th November 2025. However, Mr. Deida will continue to assume the duties of AFCONE Vice President.
AFCONE joined the annual celebration of World Nuclear Energy Day following its inception in 2020. Member States, government ministries, international organizations, professional associations, scholars and companies around the world have adopted December 2 as a day to celebrate the positive impact of nuclear science, under the theme “Power the Planet, Sustain the future

In a major step forward on the road towards building skilled workforce in Africa nuclear landscape, African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE) and University of Nairobi (UoN) have established a strategic partnership to enhance training and skills development in nuclear science and technology.
