The Finnish Ambassador to South Africa H.E. Pekka Metso hosted the African delegation attending the Nuclear Safeguard training from 19 African nations. The  uplifting safeguard project is supported by the European Union, and facilitated by the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK) and is aimed at equipping Africa States implement stringent nuclear material controls.

AFCONE welcomed its second fellowship cohort through the Global Research Institute partnership. The exchange program enables students from the USA to travel to Africa to conduct hands-on, collaborative research on nuclear diplomacy and non-proliferation. 

This course is a part of AFCONE’s Programme for Strengthening the Nuclear Material Control Systems in Africa 2023-2027, that is implemented with expert support of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK), and it is made available thanks to the generous support of the European Union and the Government of Finland.
