The Bureau of the 6th CSP

Bureau of the Conference of States Parties to the Treaty of Pelindaba

The Bureau of the Conference of States Parties (CSP) is elected at the opening of each session and is composed of a Chairperson, three Vice-Chairpersons, and a Rapporteur, chosen from among the representatives of the States Parties present. The Bureau is elected on the basis of agreed geographical distribution following due consultations, and its members serve a two-year term, continuing in office until their successors are elected at the next session. The Chairperson presides over plenary meetings, directs discussions, ensures observance of the rules of procedure, grants the right to speak, rules on points of order, and oversees the voting process. In the absence of the Chairperson, the Vice-Chairpersons or the Rapporteur, in order of election, act as Chairperson with the same powers and duties. If the Chairperson is unable to complete their term, a new Chairperson is elected from the same region to serve the remainder of the term. The Bureau ensures the orderly conduct of CSP sessions and supports the effective management of the Conference’s proceedings.
