AFCONE Chairperson Mr. Gaspard Liyoko Mboyo at the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 15-16 February 2025.
The Chairperson of the African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE), Mr. Gaspard Liyoko Mboyo, together with the Vice-Chairperson and Acting Executive Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Bezeid Deida, represented AFCONE at the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
During the Summit, the delegation highlighted AFCONE’s role in strengthening nuclear security in Africa, while also promoting the safe, secure, and peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology to support sustainable development across the continent.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the AFCONE delegation held bilateral meetings with several African delegations and institutional partners present in Addis Ababa. The delegation also welcomed the progress achieved by African States in advancing nuclear energy development and reaffirmed AFCONE’s commitment to supporting these national and regional initiatives.
