A critical MoU was signed between the African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE) and the African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN) on the sidelines of the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA) in Rwanda.

Rather than relying solely on imported expertise, the MoU establishes a structured framework to integrate young professionals into the governance, technical development, and regulatory structures of the continent’s nuclear sector.
The immediate impact of the AFCONE-AYGN partnership is the legitimization and active inclusion of the youth voice in high-level energy policy. By fostering future nuclear
leadership, AFCONE and AYGN are ensuring that Africa’s transition to clean energy is technically sound, socially responsible, and firmly anchored in domestic value creation.
