(05 March 2021)

AFCONE Participated to the learned on the 10th anniversary of the Fukushima Daichi nuclear accident and the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident. The workshop will be held online from Wednesday, March 3 to Friday, March 5, 2021.

The workshop gave the opportunity for practitioners and scholars to discuss both lessons successfully learned and implemented and steps still to be taken to strengthen nuclear safety, nuclear security, and national and global governance of nuclear technologies.

The AFCONE Executive Secretary presented views at the opening panel on questions related to global nuclear governance, transparency and accountability, on how several African countries are preparing to develop nuclear safety and security regulatory policies and how the accident of Fukushima has impacted the prospects of nuclear energy in the Continent.
